Alphabet soup has been around since the early 20th century. The companies that make this type of commercial soup use the Latin alphabet for the pasta letters. One of the company’s first awards came in 1876, when it was honored with a Medal of Quality at that year’s Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. The Gold Medal for Excellence was awarded to the company in 1900 at the Universal Exhibition in Paris.
